The John Merlin Hunter papers are from Hunter’s experiences working with universities in foreign countries under the auspices of either Michigan State University or the Ford Foundation. With the exception of the Family Correspondence series, the collection is professional in nature and contain little personal information. The two largest series come from Hunter’s experiences in Argentina and Brazil. The collection contains many documents written in Spanish or Portuguese.

Sandler's papers consist of correspondence and information files, dating from about 1969-1975. The files contain research materials on topics such as nuclear energy (power plants, regulations, dangers, etc.), lead poisoning, nuclear weapons tests, and technology assessment. Much of the material relates to legislation that was pending or passed by the U.S. Congress. he files were left in their original order and most retained the titles Sandler gave them.
